adding 20" wheels to 2.7

adding 20" wheels to 2.7
I really like the 2.7 eco. I don't really tow much and like the reports of the great gas mileage. Would like to get lariat sport screw but I can't get the 20" six spokes unless I go to 5.0 or 3.5. I thought of just buying the truck with the 2.7 and the 18" wheels. Then I could just buy the 20" wheels from ford and swap them out. I would think the 2.7 could push the 20" wheels just fine. I used to have a 1998 ram with a 318 that I think it only had 220hp. I had 35" tires with a 6" lift and that went just fine. Not sure what those 20" wheels will cost me from ford. Any thoughts.

I looked at F-150 rims about a month ago for a friend who wanted the machined wheels, similar to the King Ranch wheels only with the silver painted pockets instead of caribou. I'm pretty sure the various rims were priced between 995 and 1195 a piece. That's from the Ford parts site.
I agree with 2015F150Platinum4x4 - try to find someone selling their factory wheels. A lot of guys are swapping tires out when they purchase so you may only be able to get the rims. Then you would only be buying tires. Way cheaper than buying direct.
If my memory serves me correctly, a forum member recently sold their 20" sport wheels and tires for $1200 on craigslist which I think is a good price. You'll still most likely get aftermarket cheaper.

I'm interested in this also. Speak to the dealer about ordering the truck. There may be an option through the ordering process that's not available on the Build Your Own tool on the Ford website. Either that or work with the dealer to make the 20" wheels part of the deal you're offered on the truck you want. That's where you're likely to get the best price for the wheels.
Kinda stupid that you can get an XLT 302A package with 2.7 and 20" wheels but not on the Lariat 501A package. Same engine, same chassis.

Where are you located??
I might be getting a 2015 that has 20's on it and I have no use for the 20's as I already have a set of 20's with summer tires on it for my 2012 so I would be looking to sell them or trade for 18's to put my winter tires on. I'm in western NY

Local ford dealer has a black xlt with the chrome package/20inch chrome wheels/2.7. If they say its not possible I'm guessing its a packaging limitation only, not an issue with the 2.7 rolling 20's.

The nice thing about ordering a truck with the 20" on already is that the dealer doesnt get a chance to nail you with shipping fees and crap like that.
That said, if you don't love the ford wheels... you'll most likely save some cash going after market.

Keep an eye on the for sale section here on the forum and your local craigslist. You can usually find brand new take offs for anywhere from $800-1500 depending on if tires and sensors are included. The 20's won't affect your power or acceleration any over stock because your overall tire diameter is what affects gearing and that will be staying close to the same.
