Default Add rear view camera to XL

Hey all,
After a few close calls backing out of lots I have decided to see what all is needed to add a rear view camera to my 15 XL SC with 101a. I have the 4.5 inch display in the dash already and the truck came with an adapter cable in the glovebox labelled as a rear view camera adapter. I'm looking into the Ford part numbers and so far it seems like I'll need 19G490A (the actual camera) and 43400 the handle with hole and mount for a camera.

Can anyone shed some light on what else may be required?

Also, anyone with an XL or 4.5 inch screen, does the video feed show in the dash monitor or is it like some older models and show the rear view video in the rear view mirror?

Thanks in advance.

Looking forward to this info as well. I've seen aftermarket ones posted on here, but haven't seen anyone who installed the OEM one on their XL.

I'd like to install one, or get it installed if it is really complicated as well.

I have an xl too and have been looking to do the same. I found this in another post. if they had a video of the install on an xl model might consider it. I couldnt find anyone local who installs this product and buying oem is expensive.

You could add the OEM camera or go with an aftermarket camera. Obviously using an OEM camera will cost more.

I used the product from the link that this person provided, but they don't seem to carry the product right now. It came with a new tailgate handle with the camera built into it, a wire harness that went from the camera to the dash, and a wire kit that allowed it to be plugged in and programmed to the head unit(4.2" screen by the radio buttons). It wasn't too difficult to install, but I'd recommend someone help you that knows a bit about electricity. You have to ground one of the wires, so nothing to major.

It was expensive, about $578, but cheaper than having it built in and worth every penny in my opinion. Try contacting them and see if they'll carry it again soon. They have another kit that is similar, but it doesn't come with the part that allows you to program it to the center screen so it'd have to be used with an external screen that you install yourself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that won't work for the 2015. It doesn't come with the handle with the camera built in for the tailgate.

Should work for the XL and XLT that have the ford emblem in the tailgate. Platinum and King Ranch are a different story, but they'd likely already have the camera anyway.

"If you have a 2015 F-150 you should purchase our new F150 handle camera system instead as Ford no longer puts the camera in the emblem on the F-150." is in the description of the product that he linked.

I installed the one with the cam in the handle on my 15 XL.
