Default Adaptive learning why??

The first 200 miles of driving my new truck the power train was the most awesom I have ever seen. Now it seems like the truck wants to upshift to a higher gear than I prefer. Why doesn't ford just have the trucks drive the same and let us adapt to them instead of the other way around.

why not I would much rather the truck learn my habits than me have to adjust to it.

If you have disconnected your battery lately, you can clear the memory and do a re-learn procedure. Check the attached.

i agree with the op. my day to day driving changes so many times on my commute. same roads same times 20 mile round trip every day 9 traffic lights each way . i have had the really slow drivers , road work, things blocking lanes, or a wide open ride all the way home/work. so how does the adaptive learning really work? day to day? i have noticed weeks where my truck runs really strong (les traffic) but when school time comes around i feel like my trans gets real lazy like the truck is loosing power because stop and go traffic. and when there is more traffic it starts kicking to a lower gear faster.

Sport mode really is amazing! The shifting is predictable, and I love the way it downshifts on declines and braking. I keep it enabled 100% of the time on surface streets and really only disable it once cruising on the interstate. Although, I doubt I even need to do that since it'll still hit the tenth gear with Sport mode enabled.

Sport mode is fun, but if I use it on my particular truck the MPGs drop like a rock. I'll use it when I'm trying to navigate through traffic and need to be able to get moving quickly. But if i left it engaged all the time i'd probably average 9mpg. lol

I don't notice much of a MPG drop but that may be due to the 10 speed transmission.

I agree with the OP. I wish there was a way to shut the adaptive learning off once you have the truck running the way you like it.

The shift points arent as big a concern to me as the throttle response is. Over time it just seems to fall right off. I have diacovered this trick to bring it back, and it absolutely works, for me anyway:

I looked at your link...... from 2010. I chuckled at this:

F150forum.com gets made fun of on here, but in all honesty there are far less egotistic self righteous ****** over there. I enjoy the info here, but rarely post due to that one reason.
