Active Grille Shutters

Can the shutters be disconnected without any error codes on a 2015 F150 Lariat with the 5.0 I would hate for these to malfunction and have my engine overheat. I truly think this is a bad design for the claim of MPG efficiency. I see up above that several folks have removed them all together. Anyone have step by step (with pics) on how to remove them?

Actually the real temperature controller is the thermostat. As you can see from my post (#119) in this other thread, the shutters move when speed transitions right around 27 mph. Mine did not completely close, possibly because I had the A/C on. Did you ever stop and think that the system designers want to have the engine operate above 200 degrees and that operations cooler than that designed temp might not be best? While you're at it, why not just remove the thermostat and put a Holley 650 double pumper on that old boy and ride around "old school". 30 years ago nobody ever thought you could get 20 mpg out of a V8 with the kind of HP, torque, and reliability Ford is getting today. No engineering went into the thought of removing shutters, it's a bad idea.
