ABS module hydraulic assembly
Hello everyone,
my ABS unit was completely dead and beyond repair.
I bought another one, supposedly new from Ford USA, but it's actually reconditioned!
Can I reprogram a reconditioned unit (don’t know how much miles) with Forscan?
Or should I find a Ford garage?Cordialy

I replaced everything (FL3Z-2C215-B).
I'd like to know the procedure on Forscan with a reconditioned ABS control module, without knowing the mileage of the previous one.
Currently, I'm driving with it, but I don't have ABS.

You need to read the login code from the old ECU, remove it from the vehicle, reassemble the new ECU, and enter the login code. I don't know the exact procedure, but the rule is this.
Did you have a hydraulic or electronic problem?
If you had a hydraulic problem (very likely), you could have left your original ECU and no coding was necessary.

Using more common language, you need to perform what Ford calls PMI [Programable Module Installation]. This can be performed with FORScan. It involves downloading the original module As-built PIDs from the old module before removal, then uploading those As-built PIDs to the new module (once installed), then performing a module restart (reboot).
Since you did not download the original As-built before you replaced the module, you will need to go to the Motorcraft Service website and download the As-built PIFs from there. There are lots of threads describing this process. If you don't have FORScan a dealership can perform the PMI at a cost.

Are you sure you have the right one? I can verify with the last eight digits of your VIN.

I had only asked because you didn't mention what year your truck is and there are multiple variations in that 15-20 timespan.
