Abnormal Condensation?
I just got home and noticed a decent amount of water on the ground under the front passenger side even though I just parked? So I looked under the truck and saw water dripping but was confused because it’s definitely not like I was blasting the AC at 8:30 at night.
I opened up the passenger door and looked under the glove box. Took off the black cover that is held up with two clips and found a good amount (to me that is - considering the amount of use between point A & Point B of my drive) of condensation build up around that evaporator & blower assembly. Is this normal? Sorry for the hard to see pictures but didn’t have a ton of time to grab some good ones.
Any help is appreciated!
Was it humid outside (I see you're in Houston so I know the answer is yes)? Cab has a humidity sensor and will run the AC to remove moisture. Its probably just normal condensation you were seeing.
Normal. Especially when running the A/C set to drawing in warm humid outside air instead of setting the HVAC to recirc mode. Mine will leave a huge water puddle when drawing outside air with a A/C on. I'm in the Houston area too.
I was concerned the first time I saw this on my truck also. I keep the auto temp to 71 degrees 90% of the time and often I would see a massive puddle under the passenger side when it felt like the AC wasn't even running.

As long as the condensation is draining outside, it should be normal. I wish Ford had spent a few cents to put a hose so the condenser drains directly to the floor, like most vehicles. It's just a plastic nut with a hole, so the condensation drains thru the firewall, and all over the place (running boards, suspension, etc). I really can't see that stupid nut, since it's too far up, but would like to know if it's possible to install a transparent line into it, like if it has a nipple or something. Does anybody know? Thx.
For years now most vehicles have cycled the AC on, even during cold winter months, to keep the compressor properly lubricated and functional. First time I saw this was in the 1970s.
