Default 6r80 help

My 6r80 in my 2017 2.7 **** the bed last night. The truck only has 52k miles on it. Bought it used with 51k but oh well I need to make it right.

I am located in Charleston, SC. Do you guys have any suggestions on rebuild vs replacement and who to take it to? Also would you guys add anything?

I was experiencing torque converter shudder, so two weeks ago I dropped the pan and changed the filter. Shudder has been gone since then. Last night I did some spirited driving and the truck slips in and out of gears. When it shifts up or down it shifts really hard too. I was within half of a mile from my house so I drove home and parked it.

Those pictures are from two weeks ago. I haven’t dropped the pan again. I’m assuming that something is burnt up due to the dark fluid color

Mercon LV/ULV get extremely dark quite quickly. If you're experiencing shift concerns, that's a different issue, but the fluid color shouldn't immediately say that things are bad.

I'm really surprised to see a failure at such a low mileage. The 6R80s are built pretty solid.

The fluid is a bit dark but that color isn’t indicative of a failure. The real question is how does it smell?

Well that is maybe a little more grunge than I would like to see but it isn't indicating a massive failure by any means.

I just had my 6r80 replaced last sept with a remanufactured unit bought from a local Ford dealer and installed from a third party shop. 3 year unlimited mile warranty from ford and it cost a little over $4000 installed.
