Default 5.0L V8 Engine Issues

It occurred to me after reading another thread I had posted that I never really asked how many people were having similar issues with their 5.0L...

So, I'm curious...who has experienced the problems listed below:

1. Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement
2. CTA Issues
3. Ticking / Knocking --- Cause?
4. Cylinder Distortion
5. Oil Consumption
6. Other
7. None of the Above
8. All of the Above
9. Some combination of 1-6.

I had #3 -- lifter, #5 -- about 1 qt/1500 miles.

I've posted a poll to get some baseline statistics...feel free to post year, mileage, and any specifics. I think it would be interesting to see if some of these problems are overblown or if they are really as common as what some have said.

I haven't had any problems with my 5.0 yet but I'm afraid to vote.

I have a ticking sound. Had it checked at the dealer. The said it is the new injectors ford is using. High pressure injection causes the ticking . Injectors firing . How knows, sometimes I think they tell you a load of junk just to keep from trying to find a real solution.

Ticking sound is usually the injectors pulsing. It should sound more like a "clicking" sound, and is normal for these engines.

Sounds like he's referring to high pressure direct injection, which I don't think the coyote v8 uses.

Are you trying to sample 2015's and up, or 2011 to present? I traded a 2013 that knocked, but haven't voted in the poll yet. I'm not sure if Ford did anything to address the knocking when they updated the engine in 2015...

You are correct, the 5.0L Coyote uses port injection, instead of direct injection, that the EcoBoosts use.
