Default 5.0L Engine gremlin

This engine sound has just recently started, it's the kind where I'd rather just shut it off then keep it running but we brought this unit to Buss Ford recently they're saying it's normal. Had the truck towed there. I've attached a video clip of a cold start, which the sound goes away intermittently, also on slight acceleration, but, once it warms up its gone. I've checked all the heat shields and clamps. Sounds like it's coming from the oil pan. Anyone run into this sound?

First things first, that would scare the sh*t out of me if I heard it on my truck. There's no way the dealership said this is normal, and if they did, I would never go back there.

As for the sound, I have never heard anything like it. Personally, I did have a weird metallic sound at one point, different from yours, but that was due to a rock that got stuck bouncing on top of a skid plate.

Your engine does seem to run normally, although it's hard to tell, so that makes me believe the sound is coming from somewhere else. My suggestion would be to try to localize the sound to a specific area and then tighten down every single bolt and nut. Might also want to check the skid plate, if you have one, or any other area where anything might be stuck bouncing around. Other than that you might want to try a different dealership. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, hope you get it figured out.

Open with VLC Media Player. It will run most video formats.

I can't hear it either. Can't you upload to YouTube?

That's exactly what I used, works like a charm every time.

Unfortunately it isn't my truck, it's our work truck and it does indeed scare the s out of us. I can't really work on it which sucks. We are limited currently to that dealership but, working on going elsewhere right now. They/Buss, absolutely said it's normal which seems absurd, although I'm not certain they heard the sound as it doesn't happen every time on startup and I wasn't there the morning they worked on it. There are small I'd say injector ticks which may be normal, you can hear once the engine warms up. Either way trying another shop soon and if we get a good diagnosis I'll repost. For now the truck sits.

You might get more responses if you use a video/audio format that more people are able to listen to. Again, upload to YouTube.

I'd look at accessory drive. That sounds like a bad pulley bearing to me.
