Default 5.0 vs 2.7 engine

I have a 2013 f150 w 5l engine, I am old school i guess, having had an old ford with a 351 cleveland engine. my current 5.0 is fast and throaty, love it. Now i am looking at a 2017 with a 2.7l v-6, seems wimpy am i outa touch w engine technology?

Define wimpy. I've read that the 2.7L is a rocket ship, in fact it is the quickest of all the engine choices. If you're a 5.0 guy, shaving off a little bit on the 0-60 may not be as important to your butt dyno as the throaty roar of a V8.

I went from a 2014 5.0 to a 2017 2.7L.... the 2.7 is impressive. In sport mode, I'm pretty sure it would smoke my old 5.0.

The 2.7 os no wimp. I had a loaner for a week and the thing gets. All three of the top motors get up and go. Pick the one that makes you happy. You like the 5.0, get it. You won't be disappointed. I have the 3.5EB and the thing is a rocket ship next to my old 5.4 Triton. The 5.0 is a tad quicker than the 3.5 EB and the 2.7 is quicker than the 5.0. All three motors will move your truck in a hurry. People are splitting hairs on these motors, they are all quick.

Get a 2018 5.0 10 speed and smoke them all (in the RCSB anyway).

Agreed. Although I do believe that the 3.5EB is quicker than the 5.0 with the 2.7L being the quickest of the three.

You may be correct. I just saw a recent test that put the 5.0 a hair quicker, but most tests do show the 3.5 is quicker than the 5.0.

I will add, I wanted a nice reliable engine that sounds great, so I went 5.0. I have no issues with the eco motors. I get so sick off bashing. General conversation is great and healthy, all F150 motors in the 2015 up are capable for most daily driving and tasks.

I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the weight loss as well. I went from a 2012 3.5 Ecoboost to a 2017 5.0, and I feel every bit as quick.

I bought a 2018 XLT Screw, 2.7 EB a little over 2 weeks ago. I've driven all 3. The 2.7 impressed me the most. The 3.5 probably has the best power in real world but the little 2.7 builds torque so low it catches you off guard. It fits my driving style so I went that route.
