More than likely he has a BS in BS.
Maybe he can give some technical details to explain his drive-by?

I just traded my 2014 3.5 Eco to a 2015 5.0 and have to say I'm pleased so far. I went in wanting a 5.0 and planning on not liking it compared to my 3.5 but I don't really feel much of a difference. Haven't towed with it or gone crazy on the freeway but since I was planning on not liking the 5.0 performance, I'm pleasantly surprised.

it's funny, you're gonna hear people say the 3.5eco is faster, then the next breathe, the 5.0 is about the same. Next person says the 3.5eco gets 19mpg for the life of the truck and the next guy says his can't get over 17mpg at any point. Then 2.7 guy says his is king. You can do math or you can drive them all similarly geared and see what works for you. I have a 3:55 5.0 and think it lacks down low. Not just down low but every time it's in a steady state cruise it feels weak when you apply pedal. There's some shenanigans going on in the transmission programming. I'm sure of it. Truck seems held back around 2k rpms and under. That's right where it sits 90% of the time you're driving it steady state cruising. 1 example, dead stop, floor it and barely a chirp and some skipping. Try that at 10mph and see what happens. It'll flat spin the tires through 2nd. You can chalk that up to traction control or whatever, I call it shens in the trans programming.

What it comes down to is variables. You drive the trucks you have available and come tell us. I've been reading for weeks after buying mine and still get baffled at what I read.

I'm thinking a classic old Kia Sportage.
