Default 5.0 Tick

I have been watching a couple of threads about the EB's having phaser/timing issues with some (and I emphasize some so I don't get anyone worked up) vehicles. My 5.0 in my 2015 had the same issues but the dealership tried to call it normal. I'm just curious if anyone has had any weird rattling/ticking issues with their 15-16 5.0's while cold. I've added a poll just to see. The phasers are different between the EB's and 5.0's, but I wouldn't be surprised if both were designed/manufactured by BorgWarner.

that tick your yote has when cold I would almost guarantee is the y pipe connection. Mine does it. Unless your talking about a different sort of tick , mine goes away after a minute or two or sometimes less. No bigee

Mine too, pretty sure it is a minor exhaust leak, again at the y pipe. Clears up in under a minute, but only does it when cold.

So I know the tick some of you are referring to. There's a weeping hole in the exhaust on the passenger side that drips condensation and I think that causes what sounds like a tick. This is a very different tick...sounds very mechanical. Or it's just another weeping hole I don't know about.

Either way, I was trying to gauge how many have similar symptoms to the EB timing chain rattle...there are a few videos that have been posted of it recently. Mine sounds somewhat similar but goes away right away. The reason I'm concerned is because my truck isn't a daily driver, it sits sometimes for a couple of weeks or more between. I am just hoping it's not an oil starvation issue from sitting for a long time. Or...that it's the phasers.

Haha nice! I thought ours was low...5000 miles in 8 months and that's with us putting on 1000 right away to break it in.

No ticking, but, I do have a very slight pulsating grinding or rubbing feeling, in my gas pedal when it's cold. Almost like one of the Pistons is a little too tight. It goes away within 5 minutes after start-up.

I have the said exhaust noise when it's cold, you can watch the condensation drip from the hole. Other than that, it's quiet.

11k miles no tick. My 07 5.4 sounded like a room full of clocks.
