Default 5.0 Supercharged

Howdy all,

I have had a few F150s in the past (5.4, 6.2, and a 3.5(loved it!!!)). I am currently in a 2016 F250 due to what my dealer had available immediately after a flood, but want back into a F150. The reason I give my history, I don't want anyone to think that I am blowing smoke or wasting your time.

When the new body style F150s come out (2020/2021?) I want to get another. Unless the rumors of the 7.0/7.3V8 come true, I want more power than the 3.5eb. Has anyone ran across a dealer that installs the Whipple SC themselves on a King Ranch? I would like to get it all done at one time and be done with it. I know lots of dealers put them on Lariats and call it the Roush package, but they are reluctant to do it to anything else.

Looking for info and a direction to head for a good dealer on a 5.0 supercharged when the new body styles comes out. Thanks for any and all help.

Been there, done that. A 3.5eb with a modest tune walked all over it. It was my FIL that beat me, adding salt to the wound.

A 5.0 with a Whipple should be a very reliable sleeper that will be fun to drive.

Maybe in a race, but in the race of time/ miles the cast iron SOHC Boss motor comes out miles ahead of the ecoboost in longevity. And far as steel bodies the 6.2L will take the race every time, if you are talking 14’ vs newer aluminum
body the 6.2L is at a serious weight disadvantage. Anyway yes agreed, would be a fun sleeper indeed. Here is a little stock 6.2 vs ecoboost action of the steel bodies.

I'm sure you can find a dealer that does aftermarket installs that would put it on any model you want but if you don't want to do it yourself your probably better off finding a reputable shop near you to do the install rather than the dealer. The reason the dealers put them on the lower trim is to have a much bigger markup. If they put a whipple and some cosmetic stuff on an XLT and then charge 60 or 70k for it vs them putting it on a truck thats already 70 or 80k they would have to charge120k to get the same markup out of it and nobody is going to pay that.

Trindol is the only dealer that I found that I figured I had a chance. Will keep them in mind when the new style comes out. Wish they wernt so far from Louisiana.

There are dealers in Houston that install super chargers all day long on brand new vehicles.

Personally, I'd trust a reputable shop before I'd trust a dealer - unless it's one of the very few dealers (like Lebanon) that basically *is* a hot-rod shop. Either way, your warranty is gone (unless you stick with the Roush stuff and get the Roush warranty... and I don't believe Roush uses Whipple).
