5.0 Knock
So here lately when I start my truck, it sounds fine. However if I take a 10-15 minute drive somewhere, and then I go inside for a little bit and come back out with the truck still warm and start it...it knocks, bad.
I have taken it to my local Ford dealer for this issue 2x now. First time of course "they couldn't replicate" because they were only listening on cold start. I fully explained to them how to make the truck do it, and I purposefully drove the truck to my appointment 15 minutes early to sit in the parking lot for a bit to drive in right after a "warm" start so it would make the noise on the service drive...which it did. The service advisor said that absolutely this was an issue and they'd get it checked out. He said that in 2018 the 5.0 switched to a new oil pump that knocks, but since my truck is older that wouldn't be the case.
The tech listened to my truck and said that "per Ford the engine noise is normal and no repairs are to be made at this time, reference to SSM 47787 and 46871". Has anyone experienced this before? The noise is absolutely awful and I'm not an engine tech, but I know it should NOT be making this noise. It is loud enough that I can hear it over my cat back gibson exhaust at stop lights with my windows down and the noise bounces off the car next to me. In drive-thrus it is also incredibly loud. I can hear it driving down the road with my window down and it increases with rpm.
I have 56,000 miles on my truck so powertrain is closing in fast, and I asked the service advisor at the ford dealer..."If you had my truck on your lot as a pre-owned unit do you truly believe someone would buy it making that sound?" He agreed and said no, but there is nothing he can do because Ford has told them they can't do anything about it because its normal. How did "ford" tell them this is normal other than the tech thinking its similar to whatever SSM 47787 and 46871 is? I can't help but feel like they're just kicking the can down the road until it isn't their problem anymore. My truck has just recently developed this issue...so Ford claiming that "wont have any negative long term effects" is BS in my opinion.
attaching video, doesn't do it justice but helps give some context...

Any thoughts or guidance how to move forward? There are a bunch of Ford dealers in my area of the KC metro, try a new one?

Brian, I've listened again a few times, reminds me of a lifter.
I'm interested in finding out what it is, when you find out, please let us know.

I talked with Ford customer care today, they didn't seem to care much other than asking me if I wanted to file a complaint against the dealership. They didn't address any of my questions as to why this would be considered normal if it hasn't ever done it prior, and now seems to be getting significantly worse. They suggested I try different dealerships in the area. That is their suggestion? If one won't fix it, try another? Seems bogus to me
