5.0 with flowmaster 50 big block muffler

My last F150 was a 5.0. I did quite a bit of research myself and ended up landing on a dynomax muffler. Eventually I took it off and went back to stock as I got tired of the drone. The thing I didn't like about the flowmasters at the time were they were chambered. Since the OEM mufflers are a flow through design and not chambered, I didn't want to negatively affect the performance of the truck for a little sound. Something to think about.

Sorry, but I was asking Mr.chimmike what he was running.

I put on a 409 stainless 50 SUV (aka Super 50) with a knockoff American Thunder dual kit. I would have gotten a 70 series, except they don't offer one in stainless in a 3" single in/ 2.5" dual out configuration.
The 50 big block is only available in weird configurations so I'm not sure how you'd run one of them (unless you did dual in/dual out), but as I understood from what the Flowmaster rep on here said, the main difference in most of those is the size of the resonance chamber they put in the muffler. The 50 SUV I got was louder than I expected, and it's supposed to be "mild" so I dunno what to expect from the "big block" mufflers.
That being said, with an additional resonator and spiral exhaust insert, it got the volume levels down to where I wanted it, and chambered mufflers just sound nice on V8's anyway. I'm pretty happy with it.

If I wanted to throw money out the window, I'd go out on my boat. Cherry bombs are hot garbage. I've never seen packing blow out of a 'muffler' so fast in my life. I figure cherry bombs and things like that (cheap) are made for drag racers whose class has a 'muffler' requirement.
Magnaflow and vibrant make fantastic perforated core mufflers. A well designed system can provide both flow and sound, without sacrificing one for the other.
Hey, if you're fine with flowmaster, so be it, even if there are better options out there.

food for thought:
Folks who buy flowmaster when they get a V8 just because "that's what you do when you get a V8", are the very same folks Ford has a hard time selling the ecoboost to. Not because V8's are better or ecoboost technology is better or whatever. They've been trained for so long that they don't know any better or how to seek out technology. We're all guilty of it in one way or another. It's no different than drag racers hanging onto carbs for so long, before starting to adopt fuel injection. Or drag racers sticking with big Weiand blowers instead of giving turbos a try...whatever you want to compare it to. Does it work? Sure. But times have changed and there are better options that will achieve the sound you desire with the flow characteristics that benefit the marvelous feat of smallblock engineering the Coyote represents.

This is all too, too funny! We're all friends here, so I can laugh. I'm having a good time with it!
The reason I mentioned the Cherry Bombs is that "the perforated core muffler" technology is actually very old. We had them in the sixties. I had a new 340 Magnum that came from the factory with Hemi Glasspacks. Boy, you talk about a good sound. Long and wide glasspacks that were "the perforated core muffler" type units. Long, long time ago.
Some of us just plain like the sound of the Flowmasters. We don't buy the pick up to drag race. It's a pick up truck. So what if I had put "perforated core" mufflers instead of my Forties and they made four more horsepower at 5500 rpm? Really?
This is another classic thread derailment. LOL
You never did say what mufflers you are running.
Don't be so judgmental on the Flowmaster Bros.
