None of the 18s that I have looked at have flex fuel badging on the tailgate. I have still not found a verifiable reason that some are flex fuel and some are not. The only part number difference I can find is the filler neck and under hood labels.

I believe the FFV 5.0s do not meet the more restrictive emission regulations in some states. Mines is FFV and there is a label under the hood that states it's not certified in all 50 states or something to that effect. I'm guessing the engine is FFV but the emissions equipment is not and using ethanol will damage the emissions system.

That's insane! Definitely not worth it. I just filled up on E85 for $1.48 a gallon.

Ya, I thought the same thing about that post! It's usually $.50-$1.00 cheaper here than regular E10 gas. Sometime it is worth it, and usually it's not.

It's way cheaper in GA. The emissions thing is what the online Ford rep said, but they were unable to say which states. I'll order from whatever state I need to in order to get it.

It's usually only about 15-20% cheaper, so the mileage hit is bigger than that sometimes.
Kinda off topic, but who uses E-30, 50, or 60? I've seen them all up in Iowa but have never seen a vehicle that calls for it.

Any flex-fuel vehicle can use any ethanol blends up to and including E-85.

Around here e-85 is popular with the high compression and boosted crowd. Basically government subsidized race gas. My hot rod is a 432CI small block Windsor alcohol burner. I can run it on the street emissions exempt as an alternative fuel vehicle in GA. I would also consider running it if I choose to throw a supercharger on my truck. While I haven't looked into it, no doubt an E85 tune would make some serious power if the fuel system is up to it.

Ya, my brother has an 03 SVT Cobra drag car that runs low 9's. He has it set up to run on E85 with a large turbo. It can be run on E-85 or regular gas as well. It makes almost 100 more HP on E-85 though. Had it dyno'd on E-85 and put 868 HP to the wheels. Only about 750ish on regular gas. That thing is a rocket!
