Default 4x4 noises

Hello. I have always been a ram guy, tried a 2016 f150 this time. When I engage 4 high I hear a pretty loud clunk. Afterward, 4 wheel drive works fine. I also currently own a jeep and have owned several in the past. I spend a lot of time in the woods and have not noticed this sound from my other vehicles. Is the clunk typical for an f150? When I engage 4 high in a ram or a jeep I hear more of an electronic sound than clunking. Any thoughts?

It will pop when the diff locks under full throttle. Other than that, no noises when changing. It's not loud though, can't hear it with the windows up.

The manual describes the exact thing almost word for word to what your question is and describes it as normalz

Best when changing to 4 high to take your foot off the gas helps avoid any clunk.

Yes it's normal. I could hear and feel the clunk when engaging/disengaging 4wd.

The manual even states its normal.

Even setting still you will occasionally hear a clunk as the gears and cogs lock and unlock.
