Default 4wd banging

Tried to search for this but only seemed to find issues when engaging 4wd…

Yesterday I was out in the pasture in 2ft plus of snow and had to use a bit of throttle to keep my self moving. When under load in 4low I had rather loud popping and banging from the front end. It almost sounded like CV axles letting go. Loud enough I immediately backed out of the throttle. Not sure if IWE issues can cause these noises, or if I do indeed have a CV issue. It’s done this a few times, other than this instance as well. I did a quick inspection on the CV’s and none feel sloppy.

Hard to say without being there and looking at things but I would guess it is your IWE seating themselves....I am guessing that it wasn't fully seated when engaged and when power was put to it that it popped out and jumped a tooth then locked in. Next time it does it really try putting a load on it and see if it does it again. The grease on the teeth gets dried out and when cold can be pretty gummy/hard. I am changing out my IWEs and the grease looks pretty bad in there, I am cleaning everything up for the new ones....This is all just speculation over the internet, take my advice at your own risk.....lol. good luck
