I would rather have a limited slip diff instead of the E locker as I find the E locker mostly useless. Now after having said that. I did actually use the E locker yesterday (along with 4 low). A limited slip would have worked, but not as good though. I pulled a tree out of the ground next to the house. Fairly new asphalt with only 5 day old seal coating done on it. Having the E locker in this scenario really helped so I didn't wreck the new seal coating.

I replaced the open diff w/elocker with a TrueTrac limited slip in my 2011 and 2014 4x4s. The limited slip was more useful to me for on-road driving which is 99% of my driving.
I would have added a limited slip to my 2017 and 2020 Raptors but nobody makes one to fit the 35 spline axles. It's all good though because my 2017 and 2020 don't do the one wheel peel as much as the 2011 and 2014 did.

After changing out the stock suspension to Bilstein's last week I noticed I don't get as much one wheel spin making a quick turn from a stop light etc. Almost as if I had heavy duty sway bars installed. Though, I hate the Bilstein's and already ordered some Fox 2.0 rear shocks to start doing a switch over.

If you camp off-road with a large camper, it could be useful in very wet conditions. I have it, and never use it for boat launching, but I do put the truck in 4x4 every time. If nothing else, 4x4 holds both axles vs. emergency brake only holds rear axle. Few think to order the e-locker.

I also use it to pull stumps.

It's useful in the snow, if you're crossing a busy road with higher speed limit, from a stop sign. There is one intersection near me that is on my "play in the deep snow" route that I hit once a year. I pull the e-locker, step on the gas, and shoot across the road.

Same here. Not absolutely necessary with a 4x4 but sure nice to have sometimes. Our boat ramp is in a campground so there's always grit and gravel on it, and trailer parking is in an uneven grassy slightly sloped field.
For my personal use and knowing now, it would not be a dealbreaker on a 4x4 but on a 4x2 it would make me think.....but up until this truck we'd been getting by OK with a 2WD Hemi Durango with open diff and no traction control and oh what fun in the snow when we get it here not too far out of the foothills.

Like Ricktwuhk^,
I use my e-locker a lot mainly to get get across the road from a stop where there's gravel, snow, ice or rain at the stop.
Of course it comes in handy for serious 4x4 off road wheeling.
.
The e-locker comes standard with the FX4 package.
I think its an option for non-FX4 trims.

Buy with confidence. Sounds like for your use, not having an e locker would be a non-issue.

The salesman looked at me funny when I told him that I wanted rear differential lock. He found me one and I did not realize that it was an E-Lock at first. GM has their G80 which is limited slip and not a fully locking rear axle. I had the G80 in my Chevy Colorado, limited slip in a 2002 RWD Ford Ranger, and limited slip going back to a 69 Pontiac Catalina. I have gotten 4X4 trucks stuck on snow covered roads in the past and wanted diff lock on this big vehicle for all the help I can get. I have to go to work on days when most people will stay home and wait for plows to drive by. Very few F150's have E-Lock due to the fact the vehicle has to be pretty much stopped to safely engage. Now if Ford also offered a Limited Slip like GM's G80, there would be a higher take rate. If a person really needs the rear axle locked up to get out of a jam, then an electronic locker is the best.

I've only had to use my E-lock once. But, it saved my bacon. At least saved me from a long, embarrassing walk for a tug!

I would imagine it would work well if you had to do some pulling on a nice lawn. Should help save the turf, in a straight line at least.
