4.2 to something else
So ive been looking at "infotainment" options. I currently have the 4.2 screen with sync. 2015 xlt truck. I have the sync2 mft in my 16 superduty. Its livable and works. Sound is good enough. The f150 though is barely tolerable. Ive been looking at some type of replacement. Given the needed dash modifications and tie in needed we no longer can just pick a double din and a install kit.....
to the point. Id like to keep steering wheel functions, back up camera function. At first i was against the tesla type displays as it is too much... but after looking at all options staying anywhere close to oem with sync2 or 3 is cost prohibitive. Going aftermarket would allow easier sound upgrades with a double din but it would be nearly a grand all said and done before audio upgrades. The tesla type displays are essentially the same cost. Possibly cheaper. The truck is essentially a work truck. What system will have better quality/size screen for the backup camera. Decent in vehicle call quality, and the ability to improve the sound to a reasonable level. Small sub and speakers etc. The tesla screens seem to lose functions the aftermarket regular headunits seem to have redundant features after the adapters are installed which probably would be a pita to work thru. The only way oem might be better is to hopefully cobble together parts to make it work. Am i missing a easier option?
