Default 36 gallon fuel tank

Has anyone gone from a 23 gal fuel tank to a 36 on a 2016 F-150, if so how did you do it?
Thanks

There where a few threads on here from those that did it,,, seems one thing they all had in common was lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$.. One good thing, you can now use Forscan to adjust the truck so everything reads correctly..

I ordered my truck with it and back then Ford only charged $196.00 more for the bucks worth of extra plastic it cost them.. Now it's what $400.00 for the same bucks worth of plastic...

I wondered the same thing. I figured the retrofit would be pricey.

I am prioritizing some other mods to the "new to me" 2015 F150.

I should point out that I love the 36 gallon tank... Must be a pain living with that little 23 gallon one..

Ya, gotta love the 600+ miles per tank!

Don't love the price to fill it though

I still get better range than the 26 gallon tank in the old '99 Dodge Ram that I am stepping up from.

That 36 gallon tank is on my list. Sounds great, although my bladder is already my limiting factor. An increase from 23 to 36 gallons will not change that.

A bigger tank is on the list. As I look at the mods thread and the leveling thread, the gas tank is pretty low on the list.

Funny thing, though. The old Dodge was parked for a week while I picked up the Ford in Iowa.

The day after I put the Ford in the Dodge's spot, the Dodge would not start. (pouty brat) No problem, I have the Ford now.

Nope. The Ford, low on gas and backed into the steep drive, would not start either. So now I had two trucks and neither would start.

The Ford started once I let it coast to the level street. The Dodge was coaxed to start after a night on the battery charger.

Soo.. I appreciate the value of a bigger tank and, even with a bigger tank, do not back in a steep drive when low on fuel.

Mine came with it - but yeah it's really nice. I've never gotten gas in bad weather...put it like that.

I think the 15+ F150s have been out there for some time now, I would start checking the scrap yards and see if they have a factory one you could buy.

They are nice, I had to drive down to Springfield MO for work and from MPLS MN it was 1 tank.

I believe there was a guy on here that lives in Alaska that had a dealership swap out to the 36 gallon tank. If I remember right, the cost was around $2,000.

Here is the other thread on it. Page 4 Leckbandg is the one that did the conversion

Speaking as a man of a "certain age" and also being "bladder challenged", I sure understand that.

But the real advantage of the 36 gallon tank is when you chuck a trailer on the back and take that 6-8 mpg hit.

Fits nicely in with the "bladder interval" then....
