Default From 3.5na to 5.0 '15 to '18 observations

Picked up my Leadfoot 5.0 3.73 2018 yesterday. Special ordered at the very last minute and just made it under the wire. Wanted Leadfoot. Ordered STX package and found by ordering the heated mirrors, you are made to order the mirror spotlights. This also gives you dimming outside rearview mirrors and as a bonus the inside rearview mirror came as auto dimming. Did not really want the **** for the trailer backup assist, I can back a trailer fine, but only way to get aux trans cooler and heavy front sway bar. 36gal tank the way all of these trucks should come, a bit of carpet, Sirius, running boards and it made a nice truck that is really fast. 7000 lb GVW on the door sticker. I was surprised to find the 9.75 rear end but the electric parking brake. No chrome around the air vents means no more reflections in the mirrors. I ordered the STX mainly for the column shift and console. XLT forced the console shifter so I had to go down a trim level since Leadfoot defaults only to sport packages. I noticed my dealer had some of the 18 inch black sport rims set aside from lifting another new F-150. I did not care much for the STX 20 inch wheels. Swapped my rims and tires for the black rims and bought new tires BFG 285-65-18 and really changed the look of the truck. Peeled off the bed stickers and signed the paperwork. Ended up with $8000 in rebates.
I have had a 2015 now for over 3 years with a 3.5na engine. It does everything I ask of it, gets decent mileage and now with 120.000 miles on it has been bulletproof. The '15 is my work truck now and the '18 is my personal truck, family car now. The 2018 seats seem more comfortable even though they are now powered. The 5.0 with 3.73 makes driving effortless. Getting the same mileage as my 3.5na to boot. A lot more shifting and clunky shifts from the 10 speed I assume will be smoothing out with a few miles. The 6 speed is a lot smoother. I disable the autostart every time I get in. Even though the '18 rides really smooth, it is nothing like my '15 with Fox shocks and a sway bar handling wise so I will do the same to the '18 soon enough. My '15 has aged very well and still looks new with 120,000 on it. The '18 is just so much more fun to drive and listen to.
I honestly did not care for Leadfoot at all when I first saw it. It is an acquired taste. Over time it kind of grew on me to the point that it was absolutely the only color I wanted. I thought I could wait until 2019 but when the color was discontinued, I had to make my move quickly. I think I just made it. Dealer said the only way it got made was because it was a sold retail order that takes a top priority. The vin ended up in the E series in the 41,000 sequence. My '15 was an A series in the first 85,000 made.

Pretty sure all F150's have the backup assist standard.

no, for $95 you get just the receiver hitch and trailer wiring. The trailer tow package gives you the same plus backup assist, sway bar, transmission cooler for $ 995.

OIC. I probably didn't know an F150 could be had without all that.

I would rather they had the trailer brake controller as standard in that package instead of the backup assist.
