Default Ecoboost front bumper

Just curious why my 2013 f150 EB, had the tag mounted to the side of the center opening in the bumper, new truck has plate mount over the same opening, any concerns for the intercooler?

The prior generation design allowed countless raccoons, cats, puppies and possum to get sucked up. Ford engineers, being the brilliant thinkers they are, moved the front tag to the center to stop the senseless slaughter.

I live in a no front tag state and it grieves me to no end that this senseless slaughter still happens in states like mine. Fear not, the road kill is given to my neighbor for his late night grilling adventures.

I posted in another thread about a silly mod that I made to my front license plate holder. Seriously hope the Ford engineers are smarter than me and this is a totally useless and unnecessary mod, but for what it's worth: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/turbo...1/#post5892409

IIRC, they moved the license plate bracket to the middle to compensate for condensation issues. Haven’t heard of any condensation issues with the 2015+

Can't debate your statement because I really don't know, but that seems unlikely since many (19) states don't even require a front plate.

Someone broke mine a while back backing into my truck. I haven’t replaced in since. It’s been at least 6 months, no issues. Although, I think the idea that they moved it there because of condensation is a bit out there. There are many states that don’t require a front bumper.

I live in Utah, I’m not sure condensation would be an issue here regardless.

False. They fixed the condensation issues with a difference CAC design as well as using active grill shutters which also helps aerodynamics and moving the air intake funnel to the top of the engine bay vs down at the bottom. The new design of the CAC along with the active grill shutters allows a license plate to be in the middle like normal vehicles. It's not going to make a difference if you have a front license plate or not.
