Hey, to each their own.
But OEM doesn't always equate to "better" than aftermarket.

I was looking at Ford parts. The tank is $725 and the new heat shield is $138. I'm not sure if the pump, brackets etc. are the same or not. The parts catalogs online are not 100% complete yet.
For whatever reason, I decided to add the chrome tow hooks to my 2015 4X2 F150. $65 didn't seem too bad. Wrong! The front valance does not have the holes for the hooks to go through. +$71 for that and the shields that fill the hole once the hooks are installed are another $16. Not to mention that the front bumper has to come off to do the installation. The Ford Accessories website kind of forgot to mention that.

Response from TransferFlow.
"Thank you for the inquiry on a fuel system for a Ford F150. We have had a large project in the works to capture ARB and EPA certification on vehicles under 8600 gvw (Low Emissions Vehicles) since 2008. We have looked at a Toyota Tundra, Ford F150 and a Toyota FJ to try and accommodate a need for more fuel capacity. We have found that the emissions purge system is drastically different than one built on a heavy chassis (over 8600 gvw). The strategy for purging the OEM canister matches the size and vapor capacity of the tank the chassis is certified for. We are still working to apply our fuel systems into this new market but we have a ways to go before we can look at tank sizes or applications."
That sucks.

Pulling up an old thread here. Has anyone completed this mod or had it done at a dealer on a 2015?
My dealer keeps calling me to get me to buy a truck with a 23 gallon tank and insists that service "can't" upgrade the tank. Of course, he just wants to sell a truck off his lot and is probably afraid that I'll balk at the cost. But the 2.7L with 36 gallon tank seems very difficult to find in my region, so I hope I can figure this out. If not, I'll just wait.

I have not pulled the trigger yet. It's just a money thing. Don't want to spend it. But yes it can be done. Dealer wants 1200 installed. Straight swap. Uses all same parts as the 23 gallon tank

There's a truck with my specs at a dealer about 90 minutes away. But my local dealer has a truck that even with a 1200 add for the fuel tank is less costly.
We'll see what they can really do. Again, so far they are insisting it can't be done, so maybe this isn't a service department I want to work with.

Right.
I spoke with Galpin Auto Sports in North Hills. As well as Vista Ford in woodland hills. Both said it's doable it's just a tank swap. Internals and straps and skid plates are al the same.
Only issue you must have a super crew from what they said to get it to fit. Something about wheelbase.
You can order the tank cheaper on ford parts dot come or tasca and have it delivered to you then all you gotta pay is labor. You'll save roughly 300 bucks

I've decided this upgrade approach is a non-starter on a new truck. My dealer said the change was "basically impossible" which probably means they didn't even look into it.
I don't need anything like this complicating a transaction. I'll just find what I want via search or wait and build in the 2016 model year.
