Default 2020 Keyless Entry Security issues

Someone got into my 2020 f150 xlt and an older Subaru parked side by side in my driveway. No sighn of forced entry. None of my expensive tools where taken from the screw back seat...only glove box and center console ransacked. And then they left them both locked. Like WTH!!!

How did they get in! Why didn't factory alarm trigger. Is my truck going to be gone in the morning 😬

Police said a device capable of accessing both vehicles like that is about 10g on the black market?
I had stupidly failed to remove the factory key code printed on a card that comes with the manual. But they obviously didn't use it to get in. Now looking at my manual I see there is a key fob imformation card that is somewhere to. I hope they didn't use a scanner to remotely enter then grab that key information? It's like 1 am and I'm just figuring this stuff out by reading my manual...

I bumped a thread regarding upgrading factory security but don't want to hijack it with my personal issues lol.
Any suggestions or instite would be greatly appreciated thanks👍

How close are your keys to the truck? I was under the impression that to remotely grab the key code from the fob, that the keys needed to be "seen" by the truck. I would buy a small farady bag to keep my keys in if I was in your shoes. It may be a little late at this point though. Odds are good they were looking for guns, most stolen guns are from vehicles these days. Also think about getting a dashcam. something like this.

About 60ft away, as far back I can go in the house from driveway. I was under the same impression too. I'm in Vancouver Canada so Im pretty sure finding guns randomly in cars is not a thing 😁. A buddy just told me this morning shipping stolen trucks abroad by some highly organized crime is.

I thought the 2020 changes the frequency each time you start with key but I don't fully know or understand how it works yet. If that's the case the tech used to gain entry must be more than a scanner and I'm left feeling pretty insecure lol.

That dash cam that works as security is a a great idea for the price thanks👍.
Might just disconnect battery at night for a bit until I can can beef up the security.

You can buy a pretty cheap driveway alarm on Amazon, I got it even cheaper at Harbor Freight. Until you sort it out, place this by the truck. Get notified when someone is close to it. Then, take your legal meet and greet, aka shotgun, and meet the intruder.
Amazon Amazon

ps: let us know if you ever sort this out, crazy.

The code changes but what the device does is turn the trucks remote key fob antenna to change from say 3 feet to 100 feet. So when they grab the handle and open the door, the truck thinks the key is close and it unlocks and opens. They probably just locked the truck once they left. This is what I was told about how the device works by my cop friend

Great suggestions thanks I have some shopping to do! Although only meet and greet I'm allowed to have is a Louisville

Interesting thanks👍
I don't think my xlt has that feature of proximity unlock, there's no push button start either just key ignition. But I think a Faraday bag for my fob in the house is sounding like good idea anyway. I tested today and realized when my Ford Pass app remote starts it automatically locks the doors if unlocked. I had started the truck before I went out so that solves that mystery.

From what I have read it is pretty easy for knowledge thieves to unlock the F-150 by going through the slot for the door handle. Or maybe you accidentally left it unlocked. Based on your described behavior, it sounds like opportunistic druggies who were looking for money and easily carried items that they could sell.

I'm very ocd about locking my doors. I left it unlocked one night. I live in a decent area, but kids and whoknows check car doors all the time. That's why I use that driveway sensor I just leave it on all the time, goes off I suppose when I'm outside by the truck, oh well. I don't want to scare off an intruder, I want to catch them

^This. Doors were most likely left unlocked on accident.

Although it is quite possible that they had a fancy tool to hack and disable your alarm/unlock it... it is most likely that you forgot to lock it and some random kids/druggies, etc... happened to check your doors, found it unlocked and ransacked it quick before hitting the lock button and then running off.

What slot are you guys referring too?

So an update. Towards the end of the week I realized a gortex jacket was missing and my checkbook I had forgotten in the center console. What alerted me was a fishing call from someone who claimed to be my bank asking questions the bank won't ask on the phone. Hassle opening up new account and alerting Equifax but so far no money lost. Makes sense now why they didn't take a bag of Makita tools, they where after identities.

I've put a wyze outdoor motion cam in the driveway and one inside truck since I can't cover passenger side angle from my house. And a driveway motion detector with chime in bedroom since the wyze notification is really slow. Oh and I put a fake alarm LED on the dash with Clifford alarm stickers....that should cover all the bases

Oh and a faraday bag for my key fob!
