2018 Reliability Concerns
I have an 18 5.0 with all the usual issues. Motor getting replaced currently, getting it's second CDF drum (first one was old design). I have had other issues as well, nothing too crazy but I am getting disillusioned with the issues right now.
Im sitting at 75k miles. I dont tow or abuse this thing. Never done a donut or a burnout and its paying me back with headaches.
I am just wondering for those of you who have been in this situation, is there light at the end of the tunnel? Did you get through these issues and get into a streak of trouble free driving? I love my truck, I just want it to work right. I am hresistant to get something new (to me) as I know they all break, some more than others, and they all have their issues (all brands and models). I just hope this is end of the problems for a while for me!

Only issue other than recalls on my 2015 3.5 eco was a bad IWE fairly early on.
Flip side look at your situation - new engine and tranny at 75k, so you reset the mileage clock to zero on both. I would probably choose to keep the devil I know versus the unknown new one.

This is what I'd do as well and have. My current truck, 2016 XL with the 2.7 and 6 speed, had it's engine replaced at just over 90k (90,084 to be exact). I am running it. It'll be cheaper for me to replace the transmission if it goes than to buy a new truck at these prices. With the aluminum body, I am keeping this one. My only other issue is that the rear end has had to be redone twice now in the 3 years I've owned it.

If you are at 75k, when was the first time you dropped the transmission pan, replaced the filter, and refilled with new fluid (or had it done by Ford or independent shop)?
For your oil consumption, were you able to try alternative methods (like Liqui-Moly every oil change) to control the problem?

As for liquid Molly, I never tried. Reason is that the issue was in the valve train. It failed a leak down test. This is way over my head but if I’d leave it for a few days without driving out would smoke at startup. The guy on here who promotes liquid moly made me think it was to address the porosity of the cylinder walls. My issues were top end related so I didn’t bother
My 18 5.0 has been good other then oil consumption. I haven't had any transmission problems (knocks on wood). I just watch my oil level and add as necessary. I do tow with my truck year round and have >80k on it now.
If the engine is being replaced, and the new engine seems to break in correctly and function correctly i would have confidence in it.
