How can you check what TSB version you are on?

I think you are saying that there is not a strap for the seat behind the driver. Both seats have a strap. The passenger side is exposed for access to the jack. The driver side is a little difficult. As you look towards the seat, squeeze your hand down behind the seat's back just to the right of the head rest and fish around - it's there.

Default IWE Failure

Bought an XLT with the FX4 package. At 800 miles had the drivers side IWE go bad. Took it to the dealer and they quickly diagnosed the issue, however....the truck sat on their lot for 3 weeks of the first month of owning it waiting for an actuator that was apparently on back order. They also wanted to replace the other side as a precaution, had to wait another month for another acuator to come in. I'm hoping after this fix that there won't be any other real issues, as I love the truck.

order a couple of these via Amazon, and keep them handy. It seems most of the IWE, (front right, grinding, etc), are due to these. Mine had issues at 580 miles... replaced with the YG360, no further issue.

Love just about everything about my 2018 XLT with the 3.5, especially the performance and gas mileage I've been getting through the first 4200 miles, but having an issue with potentially the turbo or the IWE (based simply off of location and similarity to other users' experiences). No issue with startup, but as I push through about 20mph straight and level (and about when the turbos kick in) I'm getting a gross sucking/grinding/rattling noise out of the driver's side front end...it's happening about 1 out of every 4 or 5 startups, and it's loud. It's been to the dealer three times now - first time they diagnosed and fixed a loose hose in the air intake system that was leaking boost, but it's been back twice more for the same issue. The techs were unable to duplicate the problem and went through the entire turbo system but weren't able to find anything. I uploaded a couple of Youtube videos of the noise cropping up (viewed by the techs), and of the noise going away after a quick gas pedal double-tap that seems to clear it up. Any thoughts? Pretty frustrated with such a new truck having an unfixable problem so early.

Default Electric Gremlin

I have had my brand new 2018 F-150 XLT FX4 for a total of 4 days. Ingot Silver Super Crew, 5.0 Coyote, 10 speed, 4X4, towing group. Love the truck! Tiny little issue--when I open the driver door for the first time on a given day, it sounds as though a lock actuator is trying to unlock a stuck door. It makes 5 little servo "snaps" in short order.

Hunter56 sounds like his Sport may be doing the same thing. Probably not the fuel pump if the engine isn't running and the ignition isn't in the pre-start position. There's probably something about this in the 500+ page manual which I confess I haven't read from cover to cover. I'm looking into the rear distance sensors to see if they have any functionality when the key is off. Any further thoughts?

I have to quit reading this thread, I'm looking at the 18's now and every time I read this it's pushing me further and further away from getting one. I want to get a 18 but don't want to go to the dealer every other week. I might have to keep my 15 and be happy with it...

The only issue I have had so far... 2.7 5k miles, truck started shaking, check engine light came on, and temp gauge read all the way hot. Motor was not hot to the touch at all. Other than this issue, which we will see how it plays out, the truck has been amazing.

You likely have a bad check valve,it sound exactly like mine did.I have a 2017 3.5 ,..and in my case, it is way worse when the engine compartment is cold, once you have driven a while it no longer does it....I can get my repair order and get the pn and diagnostic info...next time it does it out it in 4wd and see if it stops ,it should.

Dont let this thread discourage you, all trucks have issues....a bought a first yr gen2 3.5 and it’s been great one small issue, the 5.00 iwb check valve otherwise trouble free... only advice I’ll give you is to drive the configuration you want in silmilar conditions before buying. The 10 speed versions of these engines all behave differently than the earlier versions. And engine wise don’t buy a 5.0 expecting low end torque and power,it just isn’t there....either ecoboost is way stronger in the average rpm range we drive . The 5.0 is an animal up top it doesn’t perform well down low and is sluggish in daily driving unless you floorboard it Then it’s a rocket ....... If the 5.0 had a factory roots type supercharger it would probably be the perfect engine....then it would have the torque I feel it lacks ...
