Default 2018 Order

Hey everyone. Been a while since I've posted but I'm looking to order a new 18 and I have a few questions for the guru's here. I want a lariat sport (again) but with some weird options. Basically what I'm asking is will Ford add factory parts to it on a build. For instance, will they add the special edition darker wheels and headlights without having to order the special edition? I'd order the special edition but I can't stomach the interior. I know I can just buy that crap after I take delivery but if I'm ordering, I'd like to just get it done right away. Last question, what's the process like, do you just sit down and check boxes on a form? Thanks for any replies!

Basically how you configure it online is the same as the order sheet that the dealer sees in their system... The only way you will be able to get what you want is to have your dealer order the parts separately and they install it.

Thanks. I was afraid if that. I have a feeling those headlights aren't cheap.

Buy the SE headlights and sell yours. Shouldn't cost you too much in the end.

I'm doing pretty much what you say you want to do. I wanted a Regular Cab, and they are very limited on how you can order. With a XLT you can get Sync 3 and Nav, remote start and backup camera and sensors and that's about it. About all the same mechanical options are available on the XLT as the higher trims so that wasn't a problem. I also wanted a very uncommon color too called Guard Metallic (Green) which necessitates a special order.

I've gone over the top with the Ford.com configurations and Photoshop using layers putting different parts on my build trying to come up with a unique look. I ordered my truck the 1st week in December and expect to see it by Mid March. The first render is what my truck will look like when it's delivered to the dealer. The second is what I want it to look like when I'm done.

I've already acquired most of the parts to complete the mods, the chrome bumpers will be wrapped with black vinyl or painted, haven't decided that yet.

The SE wheels from a dealer are very pricey but found these on Ebay brand new pull-offs for $800 shipped. Not cheap but far less then from a dealer. The wheels still have the factory tags on them so I don't think the truck they came off of was even prepped when removed. Still researching tires at this point, I'll keep my OE wheel and tires for now.

The Lariat SE front grille in Shadow Black came Friday and I'm still waiting for the (NON LED) headlights. Total cost of the grille and headlights should be about $900, The front factory wheel opening flairs I've also received. Still need to order or find the rears.

Nice! You have a part number for that grille? That's exactly what I want to do to mine.

Here's the tag...Not sure why but I checked and the part number comes up discontinued on Taska. I ordered it from a local dealer using a the VIN 1FTEW1EGXJFA56459 that I found online. It comes in a HUGE box so if you were to ship it's going to be expensive. Selling the original grille will be cost prohibitive simply because of shipping.

Check with your dealer about what you want. I’ve seen a couple regular cab diesels with a king ranch package in Facebook groups that were special ordered. So things like that are definitely possible. Just not sure how far they’re willing to go.
