Default 2018 max tow

I知 thinking of trading my 2016 ram 2500 diesel on a 2018 f150!4x4 crew max tow. I知 wondering if anyone has the 7850 max tow package and what kinda weight you池e towing? Thanks

I believe you need to go with an HDPP not just the max tow in order to get that high.

I have one. It is the HDPP package. You can search for my threads on it. It's a very capable tow machine. 2400 lb payload, and I tow 8500-9000 no problem.

Ford has things kind of confusing here. With max tow and 20" wheels you get about 13,000 lbs towing but only 7050 gvw. If you get the HDPP to get 7850 gvw and the max tow you get only 11,400 towing. You get the HDPP 18" wheels and are limited to your package options because of the wheels.

Thanks mike I would be hauling 2000 + in the bed while towing a 8500 camper thru the hills of WV nw PA.

Thanks bluetoy you are correct, ford says you can haul, tow more with a 3:55 axle than a 3:73 axle. That in itself makes no sense to me!!

I like 5.0 with 3.73 for towing.

That sounds like a hell of a lot of work for any f150. 2000 in the bed plus 10-15% on the tongue and you'll have to be significantly overloaded. Keep the Cummins for this kind of work!

Joe, I hope you spend a good deal of time reading and understanding what's posted on the TOWING section of the forum, here: https://www.f150forum.com/f82/

What you're planning is tremendously over capacity of the truck and highly dangerous to you, your family, and to everyone else on the road.

You have a 2,400 payload. Subtract from that the weight of you, your family, all your possessions in the truck, and the weight of any mods you make, plus the weight distribution hitch.

Even assuming all that totals only 400 pounds, you then put 2,000 pounds in the bed. 2,400 - 2,400 = zero. You have zero payload left.

You're 8,500 pound trailer has a tongue weight, at 13%, of 1,105 pounds. You are therefore dangerously overloaded on payload, and on axle capacity.

Either you're trolling us, or very uninformed. Please get informed and be safe.
