Being well over-the-hill, I had several vehicles equipped this way. And to my mind, that's the way they still should be! Switching from hi to low beams was such a piece of cake when driving down a two-lane road at night - just keep your toe on the switch and tap it as needed. Now I have to move my hand from where I like to have it on the steering wheel over to where it can grab that dang switch!

Damn, that was harsh! 
Yeah... I've got a front-line fire engine and a utility unit that still have them.
