Default 2018 Lariat and KO@

Ordered an 18 Lariat. Any one with a 15 to 17 and KO2s care to share how much they changed the ride quality and MPG of your truck after you installed them. I realize you have to sacrifice some things and gain somethings if you install a 8 to 10 ply tire. I'm just wanting to know how much sacrifice is involved.

+1 here... I'm not interested in increasing beyond stock size (especially with a 3.31 rear), but do carry a fair amount of load and have considered LT KO2s in the stock size (or maybe 285/65 or 275/70). But I have the same worries... loss of MPG, and increase in rough ride.

I've had 285/65/20 KO2 on my FX4 Platinum with 3.55 rear end for about 2 weeks now. 2.5" front level and rear block. Calibrated the speedo this weekend and I've been averaging around 18.5 between highway driving and city stop and go. It's not as bad as I anticipated, although that's reading the built in trip computer. I'm waiting for a full tank of gas to calculate by hand.

The ride is actually better on my truck with the KO2's. The stock FX4 shocks are garbage and going from 275/55 to 285/65 really added some extra padding. I takes a bit to get up and go but it seems over the past week the truck has adjusted. No problems getting up hills or weird shifts.

I switched to 275/70R18 with a 2" level on my 16" Lariat a few weeks ago. I have had some issues with getting them balanced (shop not tire problem). I finally took it to another shop that took 6oz off each wheel that was in several location on each and rebalanced each with 2.5oz. They do seem to be sensitive to air pressure. I initially was at 50lbs as BFG recommended and they were like bricks. I am currently at 40lbs and they are comparable now to stock. I did order Bilstein 5100s for the rears to nelp with the rear end bounce. I never really noticed it on my stock tires, but it can be pretty noticeable at times with the KO2. Overall even with the issues that I have had getting the air pressure tweaked and the balancing, it is worth it.

To me KO2 rode better than stock Fortitudes.

Noise is pretty much the same. Doesn't feel as "squishy" when rounding corners or hitting bumps. I ran two sets of KO and two sets of KO2 in total in my life and got well over 60K miles.

275/65 Fortitudes were set at 36psi, 3 months later switched to KO2.

275/70 KO2 were set at 40psi. 1 year later switched to Ridge Grapplers (wanted to try a hybrid AT/MT tire).

KO2 are proven in my book.

I was wondering the same for stock sized KO2s.

Does anyone know if switching to E rated tires will affect MPG since they have a higher air pressure when kept at the stock size?

I wwnt from the stock wrangler duratracs to stock size ko's.. lost .5 mpg, no difference in ride, slightly louder, infinitely better in snow, much more durable against punctures.

I lost 1 to 1.5mpg, but I went with larger than stock (275/70R18)

They have a higher max pressure... but, as noted above, you don't run them at 80psi (unless you enjoy having your teeth shook out). The biggest MPG killer would be going to a size larger than stock, changing your effective gearing... and the extra weight of the tires themselves (about 15lbs. per tire)
