Default 2018 lariat with an issue?

I am thinking about buying a 5.0 black lariat that the dealer is advertising $15,000 off msrp….I went to look at it and drive it Saturday... it drove nice, had lots of power and its a nice looking truck. BUT when I stopped and did a walk around with the engine running it sounded just like a diesel motor.....

should I stay away from this truck??

Well..... I would not be concerned with the noise you hear. The truck has a warranty.
I'd be more hesitant about the $15k off..... Have the dealer break that down for you. I'd be surprised if you can actually score that deal on a 2018 today.

FWIW,

Don't be lured off by price discounts, the present 18 lariat 502a purchase bought in Dec 17 was discounted 12k. Sometimes dealers have pull in vehicles that just got sold somethings your the lucky one. This one was being dealt by several interested buyers by many sales people at the dealership. Sales person was told do you want to sell or talk because if you want to talk this guy is out he door. Got the sale price and it's been a great vehicle. Just turned 6500 miles, only issues transmission recall, door keypad retainer pin has loosed up and that is it. Good luck

I got $12.5K off my 2017 Lariat in February because it had been sitting on the lot since May and was the last 2017 left to move. My 5.0 is very quiet, other than the rumble from the exhaust. Take a look at the build date on the window sticker to see how long they have had it. Also, if it is a green window sticker it was a special order for someone that did not take delivery. In both cases they may have upped the discount to move the truck.

Mine is most noticeable from the passenger side wheel well. It's audible from the top, but barely audible from the other side. If you listen in the passenger side wheel well and it's substantially louder than anywhere else...do not buy the truck. There are other threads that talk about VCT issues, cylinder head issues, and "oblong" cylinder issues...all have similar symptoms. Yet...getting Ford to fix it is impossible. Just save yourself the headache and the trouble.

I just went back to the dealers site and the price was bumped up $11,000. it was $59,700 and was marked down to $42, 200. I also have emails that show the pic of the truck and with the discount. We went there and talked to the sales manager Saturday about 4:30. he even said he can find me another truck with the ecoboost with the same savings...
