Question 2018 Headlights

Dealer gave me a story about the redesign of the 2018 headlight was about getting a better rating because of better light output. I believe it is equivalent to the 15 or newer. Anyone think this is superior to the 15-15 models?

I thought I read somewhere on here that the 18's light output is actually worse than the 15's. Meaning the rating given was worse than the 15-17's. Not 100% sure though.

F-150's head light ratings are poor which doesnt bode well because they were abysmal in my 2016 and one of the first things I plan to mod...

that's scary because the stock headlights in a 15-17 is abysmal. That was the first mod I did, worth every penny.

Halogens suck I put phillips bulbs in they seem better but not HID like. I am on the fence about led bulbs with the fans because I dont think the fans would hold up here with the cold and dust. Curious has anyone heard of the fans burning out and then the lamps overheating?

I plan to do the Philips bulb mod and I will also adjust my headlights up a little to give them a little more throw will do it at night with my Mom's mini-van as a target at like 30-40 yards distance and have her tell me when they are blinding to other drivers. Cant really afford to go LED or HID with all the other mods I am doing. I am switching the grille anyway so wont be that much extra to pull the lights and swap the bulbs

Agreed. I went from halogens in my 2015 to LED’s in my 2018. What a huge difference.
