Why would you say that? The 6.2 makes 455hp in the camaro and Vette is 465hp I think.

Y'all are way too hung up on Peak HP/TQ numbers.
Pay much more attention to the power under the curve and the gear ratios in the new 10 speed. That's where the magic happens.

When i go to replace it I'll be looking at everyone else but Ford. Good luck fellow v-8 lovers.
V8's are not going anywhere anytime soon.

6.2 in the SIlverado, and Sierra = 420HP, 460lb-ft torque

Standard 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 = 375HP, 470lb-ft torque (at a lower RPM than the GM 6.2L)

H.O 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 = 450HP, 510lb-ft torque (at a lower RPM than the GM 6.2L)

The GM pushrod 2V 5.3L V-8 isn't even close!

Absolutely not but this place is full of people that think the sky is falling every time something isn't exactly how they want it.

I know the numbers. The talk was about the 6.2 and you said gm has some engine development to do. The 5.3 wasn't even brought up. I'd say the GM 6.2 is doing quite well at over 450hp, no need for more development was my point. No harm no foul.

X2,we are talking trucks here peak torque and horsepower is not what you want in a truck!!!Mustang,Camaro and Corvette horsepower sounds all well and good but where's that horsepower at?At a high rpm not a lower rpm where a heavy truck can use it!!!If i want to drive something with a V-8 i'll drive my 89 Mustang with a 466 BBF.In the meantime i'll drive my 2.7L Eco Boost truck everyday and i'm happy with that no need for a V-8 DD for me!!!!

Looks like someone at Ford made a mistake with the first update to their website. Now they match the numbers that they obviously shared with others. I noticed from the other publishing that the peaks in both HP and TQ were at the same rpm levels as last years V8. With the change to a DI and PI, I would have a expected a shift in the peaks. Time will tell how these numbers hold up. Be nice to see the mpg numbers as well.
