2018 Engine Specs
I think it's safe to say Ford doesn't plan on keeping a v-8 option on the table much longer. Judging by a very small hp/torque number improvement from the previous 5.0. Now the small eco boost makes just as much torque as the 5.0. I for sure hope this comes back to bite them in the ***. I now know this is my last Ford truck. When i go to replace it I'll be looking at everyone else but Ford. Good luck fellow v-8 lovers.
Standard 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 = 375HP, 470lb-ft torque (at a lower RPM than the GM 6.2L)
H.O 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 = 450HP, 510lb-ft torque (at a lower RPM than the GM 6.2L)
The GM pushrod 2V 5.3L V-8 isn't even close!
I know the numbers. The talk was about the 6.2 and you said gm has some engine development to do. The 5.3 wasn't even brought up. I'd say the GM 6.2 is doing quite well at over 450hp, no need for more development was my point. No harm no foul.

Mustang,Camaro and Corvette horsepower sounds all well and good but where's that horsepower at?At a high rpm not a lower rpm where a heavy truck can use it!!!
If i want to drive something with a V-8 i'll drive my 89 Mustang with a 466 BBF.In the meantime i'll drive my 2.7L Eco Boost truck everyday and i'm happy with that no need for a V-8 DD for me!!!!
Wow, that image looks fishy as the Ford site states the 5.0L as 395Hp and 400# torque. Same power as the Dodge Ram's 5.7L except 10# torque shy.

Looks like someone at Ford made a mistake with the first update to their website. Now they match the numbers that they obviously shared with others. I noticed from the other publishing that the peaks in both HP and TQ were at the same rpm levels as last years V8. With the change to a DI and PI, I would have a expected a shift in the peaks. Time will tell how these numbers hold up. Be nice to see the mpg numbers as well.
