2018 Engine Specs
I think it's safe to say Ford doesn't plan on keeping a v-8 option on the table much longer. Judging by a very small hp/torque number improvement from the previous 5.0. Now the small eco boost makes just as much torque as the 5.0. I for sure hope this comes back to bite them in the ***. I now know this is my last Ford truck. When i go to replace it I'll be looking at everyone else but Ford. Good luck fellow v-8 lovers.
B.S Ford doesn't have to offer a v-8 in anything if they don't want too. Don't be a bit surprised if they don't start ramping up this eco boost **** in the mustang next. Judging by how little improvement was invested in the v-8 I'd say it will be gone by the 14th gen. Hopefully the other auto makers take note and start investing in more powerful and efficient v-8 products. They will be more than willing to take that 30 some percent of buyers away from Ford. Ford won't be the best selling truck too much longer. Dodge and Toyota could really gain some more market share. G.m on the other hand will be too stupid and miss this golden opportunity.

Don't cherry pick sentences, post the full comment. It makes your point invalid. No offense. They do that **** on the news all the time. Drives me nuts.

I can just see the advertising campaign onslaught that GM and RAM will use to pummel Ford if they ever discontinue the v8. We all may know better about engine specs but the masses won't.
Here they are, finally. Changes for the 2018 F-150 are as follows:
The new 3.3-liter V-6 replaces the 3.5-liter V-6. Thanks to direct and port injection, it makes 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, up 8 hp and 12 lb-ft from the 3.5.
With the addition of port injection, the 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 now produces 400 lb-ft of torque, up 25 lb-ft, while horsepower remains the same at 325. It is also now paired with the 10-speed.
The 5.0-liter V-8 gets both port and direct injection instead of just port injection, upping hp by 10 to 395 and torque by 13 lb-ft to 400. It also gets spray-in bore liners from the Mustang Shelby GT350, and is now offered with the 10-speed.
A new 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 will be available next spring. It will be paired with the 10-speed.
All engines get standard stop/start technology.
