Default 2018 A/C compared to 2014 A/C

Hi all - I'm the current owner of a 2014 3.5 EB King Ranch. Living in Texas, the A/C just doesn't cut it. I've done the compressor cycling fix (https://www.f150forum.com/f38/compre...4/#post4282975) and it's better, but I shouldn't have to do it (and there are some side effects I don't really like as well).

Are the 2018s any better? Would love to hear from some other people living in hot states. This one concern is potentially stopping me from going with an F150 again.

Does anyone know if the 5.0 has a different A/C system than the 3.5?

Thanks.

Im in NC. We're hot 3 months out of the year. Seems to be doing well for me. Much better than my '05 Canyon. The air out of the vents is about 40.

I believe so. I seem to remember seeing this under my hood on a sticker.

BTW - I live in the Sacramento area where we're over 90 and see several days over 100 and have had no complaints with my '18 cooling the interior. The cooled seats work very well too!

My 2018 XLT is much better than my 2014 XL work truck, but neither can touch my old 2001 XLT - that thing could have you shivering even in the triple digits!

My 2018's A/C has done well with the Vegas heat this summer, and we were above 115° for more than a few days.

Nothing will cool like old R12, but my 2018 cools as good as any other car I've owned. Yes, if you jump it after it sat for hours at 100+ degrees, it'll take a while to feel cool, but if you come out of your garage, it'd be perfectly adequate right off the bat. Tried the 2019 Ram Limited, and it didn't cool any better, so you should be fine. As far as the 3.5 and 5.0 having the same system, my guess is yes, since the 3.5 actually has more torque, but you'd have to check compressor part numbers to make sure. Or a Ford expert. Good luck with your pick.

Soooo much better than last gen. I did the cycling fix, hose wrap, all of it, and it never was adequate. My new AC is amazing compared to that piece of crap.

North TX here, and my 2018 (black, black leather interior, Supercrew) does just fine. Good tint (3M Crystalline in my case) makes a big difference.
