Default 2018 5.0 oil capacity

So I just had my oil changed at the dealership in my 2018 5.0 XLT Supercrew. They put 8 quarts in and I asked them why they didn't put 9 quarts in since the engine takes 8.8 according to their manual? I also told them that in the past they have put 9 in. They told me that it was filled to capacity. Nobody seemed to have an answer for me [concerning]. Can anyone confirm what is the proper level. I say 9, and I will be doing my own oil changes from now on since today was my last free one from the dealer since I bought it new. Thank you.

Mine holds right at 9. I buy 2 5 quart jugs and have about a quart left. I usually have to put the extra quart in within a couple thousand miles though, it burns some still after 63,000 miles..

Check the oil, if its between the 2 holes, you're good. If its near the bottom hole, I would add a 1/2 qt.

Exactly, I would have at least checked the dipstick before having a fit.

The dumbest people in the dealer garage do oil changes. One day they are sweeping the floor (badly) the next day they are on oil-change duty. If they do 5 changes without forgetting to put in oil, they do brake jobs as well. Not sure why anyone would want the dumbest people doing the oil changes.

My '18 5.0 took just under 9 quarts last time I changed oil to fill so 8.8 makes sense.

Maybe they didn't do filter and just drained and filled with 8? Have heard of some strange things...

My 2018 5.0 holds 8 quarts & 25 ounces of oil. I always put this amount in and it's never wrong.
