In my case, the whine/whistle from the transmission at parking lot speed did not creep in until about 4-5K miles.

On a 3.5 or 5.0? I ordered mine on my 5.0 and it was almost there from the first drive. wasnt happy about that

Pft! A badge cannot change the fact that it's still a Dodge underneath.

We had a brand new 2018 Chevy Silverado delivered this week at work. Yesterday I got in it and the "Service Tire Monitor System" message was displayed and the warning light was on, it has 53 miles on it. Point is they all have flaws, they're complicated machinery.

Personally I find Fords hold up better in the long term than Chrysler or GM products. For example at work we have trucks and cars from all three U.S. makes. The GM products turn into rattle traps and the interior plastic parts start breaking when they get old. Chrysler products hold up better but have more electrical problems and controls feel worn. The climate control knobs for instance have no detents for the selection when they get old. They work but you can't feel when the are in position. The Fords do better here. Not as many rattles and the controls keep the solid feel they have when new. The shifter still has the firm clunk, clunk sound and feel when you select a gear. The HVAC controls still click when you turn the knobs. The interior plastics hold up and fades less. The powertrains in all of them are about the same no real differences in reliability. Almost all of the Hemis have a ticking noise but it doesn't seem to effect reliability and they still run strong.

The oldest vehicle in the fleet is a 2001 Ford Excursion with the V10. It has 310,000 miles on it but it runs and shifts smooth and the interior still looks nice and feels solid. It doesn't go on jobs as much as it used to but this used to be our go to work trucks. Back when it was purchased new crew cab trucks weren't as common and the Excursion was the only thing that could haul a work crew of 4-6 men, plus their gear and tow at the same time. We also had a 2001 Excursion with the 7.3 PS but it was totaled in a wreck about 3 years ago. The crew cab trucks do the job now
