Question 2018+ 2.7 Into 2015????

Im not buying a new truck!

Id like to see about my options. I cannot find a 2015-2017 long block because they are discontinued, and I’d rather buy new if available. What are the major differences in the 2018+ 2.7’s compared to the 2015’s? Would it be a direct swap or would I need a new computer and or other parts?

Thank you in advance.

You would need all the PCM's along with lots of wiring harnesses, as the '18+ 2.7's are considered gen II engines, which also added the 10AT, as well as a refreshed truck.

So, probably not a cost effective endeavor.

Copy that. Anyone know of a reputable place for a “First Gen” 2.7?

What'd you do to your old one, if I may ask?

I just did a quick search on eBay for an engine that would fit my 2016 2.7 Lariat. The 1st one was a 52,000 mile complete engine at a dismantler in Toledo Ohio. $2800 with a guarantee. This place had 7450 reviews. 99.9% positive. Toledo not close? Somebody sells used engines near you and is reputable.

What is the name of the place? I live in a suburb outside of Toledo!

honestly have no idea of the actual diagnosis. It has about 180k miles, was driving about 80 on the highway and it went to limp mode and was making some god awful knock. Drained the oil when I got it towed home and there was a lot of metal in it. Not gonna look any further to see what’s wrong, just gonna change it out. Was hoping to find a new one, but discontinued. I have my truck exactly how I want it, so I really don’t want to part ways and get a new one.

I was going to suggest a Jasper rebuild but the 2.7 is not availbale for a 2015. I have bought 3 in the last 40 years or so and they all been great. Ran the sh*t out of the 327CID Jasper after voiding the warrenty when it was still bolted to the crate by swapping out the camshaft. Well I asumed I voided the warrenty... had that motor for 7 years before I sold the car. Then a 1970 version 350 engine I swapped into my TransAm and again new cam before installing the engine. last was a 93 ford ranger 3.0 that I put about 90k on before trading it for a new 2006 Silverado... big mistake I should have kept the Ranger.

Ebay might be the best option as finding a reman 2.7 is difficult if not impossible. The failure rate of the 2.7 is low but still, I am surprised that a reman engine is not available.
