I've heard some criticism from others, and seen some in other threads about not worrying about it because it will still have a warranty. Really? Factory assembled vs. underpaid tech? Example - The bolts that hold the timing chain tensioner - they have a torque spec. At the factory - things are assembled DRY - and the torque is accurate. In the shop - I'd be willing to bet that there is oil on the bolt or in the hole, so the torque will not be correct. These guys probably don't have the time, or don't want to waste the time to do every single step perfectly. In fact I'd be shocked to learn the they don't just wing it as far as torques go. Theres a torque spec on oil drain plugs...ever see a Ford service department use a torque wrench there? I haven't. I have however had a stripped out oil pan thanks to a service department. Same with Lug nuts - Impact driver as tight as they can. I trust the robotic assembly over humans. That bolt can work it's way loose over time..maybe at 80K miles where as if it was factory assembled it may never come loose. 80K - long after any warranty. Just one example. Am I paranoid about these things? Yup - but it's my truck and my money so I choose to be like that.

Fords CSM is not offering anything or doing anything, and not returning my calls. My situation has changed and I could now use a lease/loaner - but I can't get ahold of her for four days, and she has not responded to my two voicemails.
This was probably the smartest post I've read in a while..
You are absolutely right. People look at warrantees like their trucks are heading back to the assembly line for a fresh fit, when quite the opposite is truly happening.
A flat rate tech, with a huge lack of proper time/pay to perform even routine tasks is always under the gun on even the simplest of tasks.
But you hit the nail on the head, a warrantee job at your dealer is just another no tourque, no research, paid learning experience for most techs.
It's still amazing to me just how much stuff the American consumer fails to realize. When marketing myths are given enough time to saturate the consumers mind, you can sell them anything, and make them feel the way you want them to. I'm not saying I'm exempt from these feel good moments either, but I always retain a healthy dose of skepticism..
I still cringe when I have to give my cars up to a service dept, even for a routine oil change..

OP..
Having seen the pics of the engine just sitting there with crap ready to fall into the intake ports and heads, I'd be on high alert after she's buttoned up and running and I'd be working towards grabbing yourself a different truck... Just seeing that lack of good practice alone really would destroy the whole deal for me..

I received a phone call today from the service manager. Not an email this time.?.?

We've replaced all the parts Ford has told us too, reassembled and the noise is still there. We contacted Ford, and escalated to the next Engineering tier. He was told it will be another 10-14 days before they respond. They are way behind.

He says they expressed the urgency, timeline etc. on this but they(Ford Engineers) work in a FIFO system.

And of course I can't get ahold of the Regional CSM - She is only available when she calls me. I want to start a buyback request. It's been sixteen days already - will have been 26-30 before the dealership is even contacted back by Ford...never mind a fix.

Not only does this just suck due to the NEW truck broken BS...but a horrible inconvenience that nobody involved seems to understand. I can't keep commuting in my current car, I have a boat I can't move, things to do that I bought a truck to do. Ford doesn't care, and does nothing to escalate this. the CSM is never available.

Track down Ford on here. They've got members on here that escalate problems to managers all the time, they might have pull on your chitty CSM.

They don't respond to anything from what I hear.

I can't believe its sitting there opened up like that. I know it does you know good or helps in anyway, but damn. I wouldn't expect that from any level of service let alone dealer service.

22 days now and no updates on the truck repair.

I did manage to open a buyback/replacement request through Ford customer service, which of course got routed to the same Regional CSM that was not helping originally. She had someone else call me, and they should have an answer tomorrow the 29th. I suspect it will be denied initially. I have BBB Auto Line paperwork and documentation ready to send out, but waiting and hoping Ford steps up without going that route.

Truck still sitting outside where it's been for another week. Marring and scratches on the fender now.

At 31 days now - I just heard from the dealership- Ford has instructed them to replace the engine...with no ETA on a replacement engine availability. Ford CSM stopped contacting me as of the 28th.

These guys haven't gotten anything correct yet. Truck outside and open. Fender scratched/marred. Drivers seat filthy.

BBB autoline case in process. 10-14 days before Ford responds / counters with an offer. It is expected to be another 40 days before a decision. I may not win anyways.

I'm getting royal screwed on this.
