Default 2017 Tailgate Adjustment

I have done a search and could not find an answer. My tailgate closes extremely hard. I need to slam it close a few times to get it to lock. Is there an adjustment procedure for getting this to close more easily?

Thanks for any suggestions. My dealer is about 30 miles away and would rather avoid a trip if possible.

Is it hitting your tonneau cover?

Could be your tailgate gasket too. Sounds like it’s hitting something just before it closes.

Any chance the Weathertech tailgate liner is making contact with the rubber snubbers on each side?

I had to trim back the rubber snubbers due to the aftermarket spray in bed liner for that reason.

I thought that also, but it was tough before I put the gasket on as well as the toneau cover.

Check this post out. I fixed mine by adjusting the tailgate until it was flush with the body and then trimming the rubber stopper until the tailgate shuts easily.

With a razor blade. Cuts very easily.

I used flush cut pliers to trim back the rubber.
