Got the truck back from the dealer Wednesday. They were not able to get it to recreate the issue, so I knew it wasn't fixed. They did apply some kind of TSB for the TCU unit. It worked for 2 days (that's just the intermittent part.) This morning, it didn't work.

I could not even get the phone to connect to bluetooth this AM - this is a new symptom - previously the issues with bluetooth were not a failed connection. I'm really at a loss at this point.

Is there any reason to call Ford corporate? Or is this just wasted time and more frustration?

I am about 700 miles away from being outside of $36k warranty.

My old lady was having issues with a Mercury Mariner some years back and there was a TSB out about the problem. It even said INTERMITTENT right in the TSB. Printed it out and gave it to the service guy and got the same response you did. Could not recreate the issue. I argued and asked if the guy knew what intermittent meant and it got me nowhere. Call corporate and bitched and the best I got out of them was a few free oil changes that they described as a "warranty extension".

Sometimes you have to make an intermittent problem more permanent for Ford to finally help you.

Update: So, after 2 additional trips to the dealer, It was acting up and I decided to show up late to work and take the truck to the dealer while it was symptomatic.

Bluetooth and voice commands were not working. When I make a call on bluetooth (phone not plugged in at all during a given trip), over half the time the person on the other end cannot here me. Then when the call hangs up, the system gets stuck on "phone volume" and I cannot get the radio to come back on until I completely restart the truck.

Ford swore I could not have a bad APIM (again) - but that's the case. New part on order, here's to hoping the 2nd replacement APIM unit is the fix.

At this time, I am concerned that something outside of the APIM is causing the modules to go bad, has anyone else dealt with that or are these units that bad that I just had a second bad unit from the factory?
