The new 3.5eco coupled to a 10 speed should be impressive. The motor makes enough low end torque to minimize the need for the trans to "hunt" for the correct gear. I think the shift Logic will allow it to skip gears under light throttle, and with so many available ratios, it should be able to allow the engine to stay in an efficient rpm range most of the time. The EPA testing procedures are not close to real world driving, that's why nobody will ever get the mileage posted on the window sticker. Manufacturers do what they have to , to maximize the fuel mileage during these test. No load, no wind, flat surface 50 mph etc. I'm guessing there are plenty of VW drivers out there that now realize how different controlled tests are compared to real world lol

For the love of pete people, stop talking about the "i don't know if I can trust this trans because it was jointly developed with GM". The current 6sp was also codeveloped with GM, and it seems to be working just fine....

The older 3.5L EB is capable of achieving every bit of the current EPA estimates. It just isn't a lot of fun to do so. Many people here have shown it can be done. The consensus seems to be that you have to keep your foot out of it and drive it like a 90 year old man drives a mid-1980's Buick, but it's possible.

Keep in mind that some of us ran away from GM because of their clunky transmissions and other issues they have they refuse to correct. When I hear about GM being involved in anything it doesn't inspire much confidence anymore. I run away from it, matter of fact. It'll take years for GM to ever have a chance to win me back as a customer.
