Default 2017 3.5L Eco - 375HP/470lb/ft torque, 10 speed is exclusive

2017 3.5l Ecoboost specs look to be confirmed. Torque and HP both seem a little higher than the previous release. Article also notes the 3.5 Eco will be exclusive with the 10 speed, so those that are unsure of the new trans just have to pick another engine.

Full Release:
http://www.businesswire.com/news/hom...0711005820/en/

Quotes to save time:
The new second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine will provide 50 lb.-ft. more peak torque compared with the first-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, to a segment-best 470 lb.-ft., beating all diesel- and gasoline-powered competitors, including V8 engines with nearly twice the displacement of the EcoBoost V6. Horsepower jumps 10 from the previous version, to 375 hp.
The 3.5-liter EcoBoost in the 2017 F-150 is paired exclusively with the first volume-production 10-speed automatic transmission available to consumers from any automaker.

Very nice. I will be looking forward to hearing if it can get closer to EPA mileage this time around.

But it gets the start-stop technology. Hopefully they can put a permanent disable option in the settings

If they use the stop/start tech to get the epa mileage, then they won't likely have a disable button.

On another note, the current 420 ftlb is very low for a 3.5l Turbo DI engine. 470 is much closer to all the others out there (taking torque/cid).

Thanks for posting this. I’m super excited to see the performance of this new 3.5EB including MPG. Hopefully any first run production issues with the new generation engine and transmission will be minimal.

The fact that Ford continues to innovate and not stick w/ the status-quo is a key win in my book and one of the big reasons I believe their sales continue to grow. As Ford continues to perfect the EB line-up, it makes me wonder what the other manufactures are doing to respond and remain competitive?

What I think they meant by "exclusively" was that the 10 speed transmission is the only transmission available for the 3.5 Eco V2, not that the 3.5 Eco is the only engine the 10 speed is available with. Maybe I'm wrong, that's just what I gathered from it.

Either way, I am hugely excited to try this new combo. I think it's going to be a hell of a powerplant. I can feel the smoothness from here.

GM is going to have to step up big time, it's hard to compete with the broad torque curve from the turbos. You really have to rev up the 6.2L to get into the meat of the torque band.

The 10 speed will only be aval for the 3.5L Eco. It will not be an option with the 2.7, 5.0, or the 3.5 NA. From everything I've seen I can't say if it going to be an option for the 3.5 eco or mandatory.

At what point do we have too many gears? I'm just thinking that with too many, most of your driving will be between gears. Sure, for accelerating and mileage it may be great but for everyday driving, it may be a distraction. ????
