2017 2.7 Ecoboost
So, are the all the issues that plauged previous years 3.5 EB finally fixed with the new 2.7?
Things like....
1. limp mode.
2. intercooler problems
3. condensation.
4. necessity to drill a hole in the intercooler.
5. issues in wet or humid conditions.
Searched a bit and really couldn't find any tech reviews of the 2.7 EB. In other words, have there been any major issues with the 2.7 along these lines that anyone has heard about?
(If there is a suitable thread with answers, please post the link).
Thanks!
Greg

Here is the highest mile 2.7 I know of on this forum. Over 150,000 miles so far as of the latest update.

Issues 1-5 were all basically the same problem. Condensation forming in the intercooler causing surging. That was resolved in the 3.5 almost five years ago.
As was mentioned there was a small run of engines that had an issue but that was more manufacturing related than due to the engine design itself.
Any engine of any make or design can have issues here or there, but any of the F-150 engines are extremely reliable overall.
A forum for any vehicle largely draws fans that really love the truck or people having issues. So you are bound to see what looks like a run of problems that's actually a severe minority of overall owners.
Just find an engine that feels good driving it and if something happens let the warranty do its thing.

Wasn't in the '14 Tremor I had...............But then again, i'm referring to the 2.7 in this thread, not the 3.5

no the 2.7 does not experience the condenser issues. I experienced it once with my 2011 ecoboost. once was enough but I never had it on my 13 eco, nor my 16 2.7. I dont recall seeing anyone report those issues with a 2.7. seems to be extremely reliable. actually the 2.7 and the n/a 3.5 may lead the pack for f150 engines which is saying something bc the 5.0 and big eco are also very reliable

Well good to know. After having the '14 Eco with multiple issues, I swore i'd never own another one.
But all the reviews I've read online about the 2.7 seem to be positive. So hopefully I made a great choice coming back to Ford.
Happy with the truck to date! (a week old) LOL

I like the 2.7 V6 ECO better than the 17 Titan I had. That is one heavy truck, and its V8 is loud and beefy, sometimes just seemed as it "lugged" around locally in the city (and its 7 speed tranny always seemed confused).
So far, so good with the new 17 F150.
