Default 2016 Wheels Stuck On

I have a 2016 XL with steel wheels. I tried to pull my front wheel off to check the brakes and could not get it to budge. Seems like the tolerance between the hub and wheel is too tight. Any tips for getting the wheels off? I sprayed them with penetrating oil and beat on the tire with a 3 lb sledge and it wouldn't move.

Get on the ground and kick it on the left and right or bottom side. Lots of leverage.

What you have is a built up of rust in the hub and wheel flange . Take larger hammer and spin the tire a few time while hitting it. It will break free. Use a wire brush to clean up the hub area

IF you're in a rural area.....

Back the lugs off and go take a few sharp corners.

Are they the original wheels. There was a thread here a few monhts ago where a dealer may have installed the wrong wheel on the vehicle. Can't recall exactly the issue and I don't know if the poster ended up sharing with us if the wheel was correct. Something about the hub being different on some wheels.
I wish I remembered more.

Considering your info stats you're in Texas, I find it odd that a Texas truck would have that much rust to seize a wheel to the hub flange.
Yes, it's totally possible the truck is not an original Texas truck, but we don't have enough into to know either way.

Loosen the lug nuts just a tad. Drive it around the block, or a few curves in the street out front of your place. Maybe the weight of the vehicle will set it free. Just do not loosen so much the wheel can damage the studs.

Been there, done that more than once. I didn't say remove the lugs, I said back them off. loosen a couple threads, and give it enough space to break the bond.

This is the best method.

It is not at all uncommon. Do not loosen the lug nuts and drive around the block.

Remove all the lug nuts except the uppermost one closest to 12 o'clock. Loosen the uppermost one until you just have 3 or 4 threads engaged.

Get a much larger hammer or kick it from underneath (assuming you have it on jackstands) at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. It will come free. A 3 pound hammer is no match for a 60-80 pound wheel/tire assembly.
