2016 or wait for 2017?
Anything big coming? I heard about a whole new ecoboost with 10 speed trany. Would that make you guys wait? Or get a 5.0 and call it a day? Or do you think the current ecoboost engines value will decrease with the introduction of v2 of it?
Everything you just said is 100% true. You have enough knowledge right above to make the correct decision. All this is going to start is Ecoboost sucks, 5.0 is gold, first year run issues debate. Although the redesigned fuel system on the new eco is def gonna help with reducing carbon build up.

What I'd do is relevant to just me but here it is....I would go 2017 for 2 reasons. 1) another year of ford working out Al body issues. Body stuff has been a bigger PITA for me than mechanical issues over the years. 2) I would want the twin timing chains and port injection of the Eco v2. The 10 speed is probably the biggest risk but a tranny can be fixed.
Im curious to know if the 2017 is really getting the upgrades.

I'm glad to see the TQ numbers increased on the 2017 3.5EB. As mentioned already, the port fuel injection is going to be a big plus.
Taken from Ford's press release -
The engine features an all-new, Ford-first dual-direct and port fuel-injection system. Two injectors per cylinder – one mounted in the intake port where air enters the cylinder and one positioned inside the cylinder – work together to improve power output, efficiency, and emissions.

Are you looking at the 3.5 or 2.7? If the 3.5 then I'd wait until 2018 but if you can't wait that long I'd go with a '16 2.7. I wanted the 5.0, or so I thought. Then I made a mistake and test drove the 2.7. Put it this way, my friend is diehard Chevy and was laughing at me for switching to Ford. Then he rode with me and the look on his face when that 2.7 threw him back in his seat, let's just say the look on his face was priceless and he hasn't said a word about my switching brands since.
Is money an issue at all? I mean an equally equipped 2017 will cost you a couple grand more most likely due to price increases. I dont know of anything new coming out in 2017 aside from the new EB. Honestly, I was trying to decide the same thing. I decided I wanted the V8 engine which made the decision to buy a 2016 easier.
As far as the EB engine goes, I'm not sure I'd want the first year of a new engine/transmission. I'm sure the Ecoboost v2 will be great in a year or two but too risky for buying the first year to me....just my opinion though.
The way I looked at it is if I get a 2017 v8 it's just gonna cost me more money for the same truck......
I guess what I'm getting at is unless you want the new Ecoboost, why not buy now and save a little cash?
