Do we get one with the 2016's? Have an undercover elite xl cover that codes to your truck key, but we really don't have a key and the one in the key fob really is too small/flimsy. Is there another key somewhere in the truck?

 

With my 2016, I got 2 fobs each with a key that goes in the fob and another key that looks like a reg key like the older ford keys before the fob. I assume thats another valet key but full-size.

 

I need to find that second key then. thx.

 

You should've gotten a separate valet key. The key inside the fobs are there in the case of a battery failure, or damage to the fob.

 

My 2015 came with a spare tire lock key that looks like a old fashioned key with plastic head. It also fits the door lock.

 

My extra key was left in the tray on the dash. I didn't know the dealer had actually put it there. I was driving one day and noticed a white reflection in the windshield and it was the tag that was on the key.

I doubt yours is up there though if you haven't seen it already. You could always take the key inside the fob to a key maker and they could make you a real key.

 

With keyless start a key use useless if you want to start the vehicle.

 

Yep. Livoniabob set me straight in a different thread. So obvious when you consider that, as you say, it's a keyless truck. Sheesh....

 

You can program your 2nd keyfob to perform as a valet key though. I'm not sure what all you can control but you can make it so the volume of the radio can only go so high, set a speed limiter, and a few other things so that a valet doesn't go joy riding in your car (or your kids if they drive it)

Did anyone give you a useful answer? I too just installed an Undercover Elite LX that is supposed to use a valet key to program the key fob. Like you, I did not get a full-sized valet key, just the emergency key that came in the 2 key fobs. Undercover says not to use the emergency key. I called the Ford dealership where I purchased the truck and they said the truck doesn't come with a valet key, but they are researching my problem. I thought I would jump on this forum to find an answer!
