2016 Trutrac
Has anyone installed a Trutrac (front or rear) into their pickup? I had both front and rear Trutrac's in my 2010 F-250 and would like to have the same traction. Any issues with the stability or traction control? I have a 4x4 w/ 3.55's and the electronic locker, but would like to have full time positive traction...
I can't imagine that the T/C would even know it's in there. Is Easton listing the 2016 as compatible with a Truetrac now? Last time I looked on the website they only showed compatibility up to the 2012 F150's. I assume nothing changed on the 8.8" and 9.75" rear ends for 2015-2016, I even emailed Eaton about it but never heard back.
When I get my F150 that'll probably be the first thing I do to it. I have one in my 2005 Frontier and it's the best thing I ever added to it. The T/C sucks in the Frontier, and now it never even comes on.

I replaced my e-locker in my Frontier with the Trutrac and never looked back and I actually did quite a bit of off-roading in that truck. Very rarely do you really need a locker unless you find yourself in situations where one wheel is suspended in the air. The benefit of a Trutrac is that it's always working at any speed, in the rain, in the snow, in the mud, and will stop a one-wheel-peel immediately. It also locks up might tighter than a traditional clutch based limited slip, being almost as good as a locker.
I replaced the e-locker in my 2014 with a Truetrac. I had no real use for the e-locker. They are good for slick boat launches if you don't have 4x4, or if you get stuck. Also you shouldn't use the e-locker on the street unless you're driving in a straight line. I was getting too much one wheel peel on the street and the Truetrac solved that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the abs on these new trucks mimics what a true trac can do. In other words if one wheel spins, brake is applied to that wheel to transfer power to the other wheel. I know I have seen this happen in the snow with my truck when my e-locker is disengaged. Obviously it's probably not as aggressive as a true trac but I think in reality it works fairly well. I'll admit I have no idea what would happen in an off road situation though. Maybe someone can chime in with a bit more knowledge of the system and its capabilities.
