Default 2016 Spot mirror

Is it me or are the spot mirrors embedded in the side mirrors reflecting the exact same thing as the big mirror? Usually spot mirrors are convex and give greater field of vision but these just seem to be regular mirrors but smaller.

I've noticed that too, the way I have my mirrors set they do not give me much benefit. The driver side one is a little wider, but the passenger side is just a duplicate.

It's not just you. I have a '15 XLT and the small blind spot mirror is useless on the passenger side. Every other truck I've looked at is the same way. I complained when I took it in for service. The tech agreed it was useless but since they didn't fix it on the '16's there was nothing they could do.

Same issue on my 16, they were great on the Escape. Wish there was some way to force them out some.

Hey Ford Family,

Part of how vehicle features are added, deleted, or modified comes from feedback given by consumers. If you all would like me to document this, please send me a PM with your names, phone numbers, and VINs.

Hmm, after seeing this thread earlier, I drove around to check mine. I do see actual areas that the larger portion of the mirror does not show. On both sides, in the larger part of the mirror, I may see half of a vehicle front but from the smaller blind spot mirror, I can see the entire front of the vehicle. Maybe different manufacturer or something? The model I have is a 2016 XLT.

When I test drove the F150s I could not believe how terrible the overall mirrors are on these new trucks . I had a 2014 and those mirrors were FAR better than the new style. I ended up ordering a truck with tow mirrors.

I can adjust my drivers side so that it works well and the spot portion let's me see the rear wheel for backing the truck in a tight place. Works very well (I'm tall) but it is not a blind side mirror for the road. I had to add a small blind spot mirror for that purpose.

The passenger side spot mirror doesn't work the same way. It doesn't do much at all. Mostly duplicates what the larger mirror does.

Whatever.

Wondering if the spot portion can be removed/moved and adjusted for another angle? Anyone try this?

I feel your pain. I have to tilt my passenger side mirror up more just to be able to get any use from the spot mirror. Once I do that though, my main passenger side mirror is tilted at the wrong angle for vehicles behind me and their lights. I didn't do anything mechanical with except physically try to tilt it up and out more. It didn't move. I'd rather have the full mirror with my own smaller, more useful blind spot mirror.
